Central League Cyclocross R7, 28 Oct 2018
On the weekend I competed at the Central League cyclocross race at Leighton Buzzard. It had rained the day before so the ground was quite soft. The weather on the day though was relatively cold but sunny. The course was very flat and was quite technical with a lot of corners but also a lot of fast straights, and a sandpit. The race however didn’t go so well, I had an awful start which meant the leading two got away quite easily and the effort I then had to put in to get back on meant they could put another effort in and I couldn’t keep on. I was about the same distance away on each lap until the last two laps where I was losing time. On the third lap I lost my chain on the hurdle as I didn’t lift it high enough and the last lap I just had no energy left. I think this was mainly down to tiredness and not being fit enough. I still came third though as some people were away at the National Champs.
