TrailX Cross Triathlon, 7 Sept 2019

This was my first triathlon since racing at the European Duathlon AG Champs în Romania where I finished with a Silver medal. I have changed a lot of things about my training since so I was excited to see how I felt. The triathlon was setup on the hardest and technical course I have ever raced but It is something that I really enjoy. I had to get there early as the bike recce was compulsory due to nature of the course so I spent the rest of the morning watching the full distance race and taking inspiration from the Elite GB athletes racing there.

The swim was followed by a long uphill run to transition with yet another long steep hill after T1. The off road bike course was tough and on mixed terrain and unfortunately I lost some time on it as I lost one of my bike shoes when mounting. In the second lap, after a fast change of gears during a climb my chain fell off and I managed to cut my finger while trying to fix it which didn't help at all.

I was determined to push on the run as I realised at the top of the hill I had to run after T2 that my legs were feeling good. The run was tough, the climbs were painful but I really really enjoyed it. I managed to recover some of the places I lost during the bike leg and finished 10th overall, 2nd lady out of 14 and 1st (and only) junior girl. I was mostly pleased with how I felt during the race so I am really looking forward now to my target races.
