Wombourne Sprint Triathlon, 1 Sept 2019
On Sunday I raced in my clubs sprint triathlon which is hosted twice a year. It’s a pool swim with an undulating bike course including a long hill climb just before the turnaround.
I had a good swim, however looking back I know I should have put more energy into the swim as I wasn’t at all tired by the end of that discipline.
My transition was then quite slow, as was my T2, so definitely something I need to practice as it’s an easy way to save time. Onto the bike course and I felt good, having a good bike before approaching the climb, which is given its own results for king of the mountains. I had a good descent, but had to be fairly careful as the road had been relaid and was quite gritty. I finished the bike and still felt good with the run ahead, and was happy to knock 2 minutes off my previous bike time on the course.
Onto the run and I felt strong, this was especially pleasing after a disappointing run last weekend. I had an aim to stay with the woman who was slightly in front of me, and was very happy and hugely surprised when I finished to see I had run a 2 minute 5km PB!
Overall a good race, and I was happy to beat my PB for that race by 4 minutes!
