North West Triathlon, 22 Sept 2019
On Sunday I raced in the North West Triathlon sprint distance in Nantwich. Luckily the start start time meant I didn’t have to get up too early. The swim was in a 33 meter outdoor saltwater pool, which was pretty cool. The format of the swim was 4 lengths in each lane and then swap lanes until you reached the other side of the pool, which made it seem to go really quickly.
Onto the bike, it was a fairly flat one lap course, the course was quite busy, so it was nice to have people in front to try and catch. The road surface wasn’t the best with rather a lot of potholes, as I was having a drink I managed to go over a pothole and drop my bottle, but luckily it was quite near the end of the course.
The run was 4 laps on grass, but the music blasting out the speakers made it seem not so long and boring. I was really happy to win my age group, and even better to end the racing season on a high.
