Calfman Standard Triathlon, 4 Aug 2024

I went into this event not feeling race ready despite how much I have been training. My last event was Ride London which was a few months ago. Given the hot weather recently I thought it might be a non-wetsuit swim which I wasn’t looking forward to.

Sure enough on the morning it was confirmed that it would be a non-wetsuit swim but I had practiced open water swimming without my wetsuit so I was prepared! I was pleased with my pace on the swim especially as I was 6 minutes ahead of my boyfriend!! The swim was stressful though as it was very busy!

On the bike I was delighted with my pace which was much better than last year and I didn’t fall off (again) The run was as tough as expected as it goes through fields and it undulating but again this was better than last year. Even though this was a world qualifier event and the field was strong I finished well so I am very pleased.
