Bedford Triathlon, 29 Sept 2019
The last triathlon of my season was at Bedford Park. This has always been my favourite triathlon to compete in due to the challenging cycle route. The weather conditions of the morning were far from ideal due to heavy downpours of rain as well as the strong gusts of wind. I was one of the last people to start the swim which meant I felt I like I was playing catchup from the start. I had a strong swim and had a fast transition on to the bike. However, my chain came off which put me behind by 2 minutes. Once this was rectified, I was very happy with the cycle despite the slippery conditions, and really enjoyed the route as it was a mixture of straights and hills. Hills are always my favourite when cycling and I was able to pass several other competitors here. Transition into run went very well again. I have always found the run the hardest part of my race, especially as the route has incorporated a very steep hill named Cemetery Hill, only 400m into the run and which has to be completed twice. I am proud of my achievements by achieving 1st female overall with a lead of over 2 minutes and first in age group. I am very pleased of how I competed in this event and I'm eagerly anticipating the start of next season.
