A14 Great Ouse Challenge TT, 12 Oct 2019
This was a rather different TT to the usual, being on a new road that hasn’t been opened yet, so no traffic, and a proper start ramp just like the Tour of Cambridge. The weather was pretty cold with drizzle as well. I had decided as an end of season bit of fun to ride it on my 1980s Peugeot, and had all the gear on as well. With no chance to ride the course, it was rather lumpier than anyone was expecting, with a long drag up into a headwind after the dead turn meaning a hard effort near the end was required. There was also a drag up to the finish, with my HR getting to very near maximum. My time was slow, probably about 4 minutes slower than I would have got on my TT bike, but it was a nice change to (almost) end the season.
