Eastern League CX, Rd 9 Hillyfields, 1 Dec 2019

I was back at Hillyfields for my third time at this venue. The course was grippy in places and slippy in others. My gridding position had me in the middle of the start and when the whistle blew I rolled forward and started to get with it. The first straight and corner were chaos but I kept in the gaps and found myself bouncing between the guy on the left and right before I managed to accelerate away. I felt I had control going round the corners fast and having done my drift practice was able to keep upright. I held the place relatively well and had energy left on the last lap to keep the same speeds, showing I'd paced the hour long effort correctly. I've been practising on my mountain bike every day for a while and this increase in technical skill is starting to show. I plan to continue with this to try to increase my pace overall. I came 20th overall in the Senior/Junior race and 7th junior.
