Cowman Sprint Duathlon, 18 Oct 2020

I finally got to race!!

After a couple of weeks deciding if I should enter the race I decided to go for it. The distance of the race was Stampede option - 5km run, 20km cycle and 5km run. The last run was a longer run than is usual for a sprint distance which initially put me off from entering but I’m glad I did enter in the end. Leading up to the race my training was going very well and I wasn’t going to put any pressure on myself.

The first run went very well and was the fastest I’ve run since my hip injury (in March during the Euros) and I was very pleased with that. Both of my transitions were very fast. The bike was very good and felt strong all the way round. Going into the second run I knew it was going to be hard. I got told there was a girl in my age group in front and that pushed me to work hard. I caught her up and managed to make a gap. The second run wasn’t the best but I have to be happy with how it went.

I surprised myself and got 1st in my age group and 8th female, which I’m really pleased with!
