National 25 Mile TT Championships, 27 Sep 2020

Last Sunday, I raced at the National 25 mile TT championships.

The weather was very windy which made it hard to actually keep your bike upright, especially with the gusts and gaps in the hedges. The first half to the roundabout had a cross/head wind and the return leg had a cross/tail wind.

The course was quite rolling, which I enjoyed, however the road surface wasn’t very good. I went over most of the potholes as they were unavoidable or becauseof the wind pushing me into them, which resulted in very bruised elbows.

Apart from that the ride went well and I thought I paced it well considering the wind conditions. I also rode the whole race blind as my Garmin went onto a different mode and I had no data to see.

Once I had finished, I looked at my time and initially I thought it was a bad time and was disappointed. However, after looking through the results it wasn't too bad in comparison to other peoples’ times in those conditions.
