Bishampton Sprint Duathlon, 23 Feb 2020

Due to the flooding, the organisers of this race were forced to use the B route for the bike meaning it was changed to a 6km run, 27km bike and then a 3km run. The conditions were pretty horrendous with driving hail and strong gusting headwinds, nevertheless this all added to the challenge. My first run was strong, I was paced by a fellow age-grouper and we chatted the whole way whilst averaging 7.30 minute miles. The first lap on the bike also felt good, however the conditions took their toll on me during the second lap and I just ran out of energy. The second run felt as if I was running but getting nowhere and my healing hamstring was extremely unhappy at having to run again!

Overall, having not raced since last August due to injury I was pleased with coming 6th female and 2nd in my age-group. I have a nice benchmark from which I can only improve and there are many positives I will take from this race.
