East District Cycling Association TT B10/37R, 9 Aug 2020
The second of two back-to-back TTs for me, and the second baking hot day (even hotter than yesterday according to the data). I had missed out on riding this interesting, sporting course last year when the event was postponed due to very high winds, but this year was very different. Unfortunately while the wind wasn’t high, it was very unhelpful, being a cross-tail on the sheltered part of the course (slightly uphill on average), cross-head on the most exposed part of the course, and the cross-head again on the last section (slightly downhill towards the end).
I wondered how my legs would hold up after yesterday, but managed to get a reasonable spin in to get them moving, before a longish wait in the sun for the start. Everything went largely to plan, except that after 7 miles or so my legs just refused to stick to the target power, and I crawled to the finish feeling pretty exhausted. The results showed a disappointing 17th out of 70 overall, on a time of 21.49.
