Worcester St John’s CC K33/10 TT, 5 Jun 2021

The day didn’t start well with me snapping the valve out of a tubular and having to nip to my LBS for a new tyre.

The afternoon was nice and warm although there was a stiff breeze. The course was point to point and we had to ride into a headwind for the first third of the race on a fairly lumpy and rough section of road. It was a real relief to turn into a cross wind for the next few miles although my 81mm front rim was a bit twitchy. The last segment of the race had a nice tailwind and was on some nice smooth tarmac with a slight downhill gradient. I probably went too hard earlier in the race as my power dropped fairly significantly towards the end, but I was pretty pleased to come away with a season’s best. I am riding the same course in a couple of weeks and will be hoping to trim a few seconds from my time.
