Newmarket C&TC 25 mile TT, 29 Aug 2021
Just wow! I can't tell you how much I was bricking myself before riding this 25 mile TT. I had last ridden one 3 years ago on a road bike. I was so nervous!
I got to the event in plenty of time and drove the course, which made me worse as the segments seemed to go on for miles and seemed really hilly. The wind was also picking up as the morning went on.
I warmed up nicely kept myself very quiet and thought just ride it that's all you have to do. The ride started on an uphill and once I turned the corner it went on to a descent so thought this is the time to find my rhythm. I knew I had to push with my main club rival Charlotte hot on my heels but also didn't want to blow up. The wind was either a really strong side wind or head wind! Charlotte caught me at just over the half way point which became such a battle between us on the last 3 miles. We are both so competitive and neither of us wanted to give in easily. I got to the finish line with everything aching.
My time was 1:05.35 avg 22.87mph, 2nd female and 7th overall - I'm over the moon with that result. Thank you Tim and all who support me!
