Newmarket CTC Open 25mile TT, 12 Sep 2021

The weather was looking great with the sun shining although the wind was a tough one to work out. I got to HQ nice and early and did my warm-up and then headed down to the start. I set off well but struggled to get a rhythm this time after riding it 2 weeks previously. I misjudged the wind which almost felt like a head wind everywhere! On the 2nd lap I felt was getting a bit better but still just felt like a struggle. Got to the last turn home and just kept pushing. I definitely emptied my tank - just couldn't give any more. I felt like I paced it better previously but I did get a PB and 3rd place in an Open event is good so I was pretty chuffed, especially as I don't think I have recovered from a long weekend of cycling in Derbyshire.
