Elite British Championships 2021 Mallory Park, 10 Sep 2021
After waiting since 11:30 am for my race at 5:30 pm I was excited to ride my bike (and of course swim and run either side of it!) at the British Elite Junior and Senior Championships.
20min before our race started we were told that the swim would be non-wetsuit, which didn’t play to my strengths as swimming is my weakest of the three sports and a wetsuit helps you to swim faster. The water was freezing but as soon as I got in I forgot about the cold and focused on completing the swim ASAP so I could ride my bike! I didn’t swim to my usually standards and I lost about 30 sec overall due to foggy goggles meaning I swam wide on some of the straights.
I was pleased with my bike leg, catching many girls who got out of the swim over 1 min before me, and working the whole 6 laps solo. The course had less dead turns which meant I could go faster for the same effort compared to the last Super Series event at Mallory Park a few weeks before.
Coming off the bike my legs were dead from pushing hard on the bike (forgetting I had to run 5k afterwards 🙄) however I had an average run so couldn’t complain. When the results came in I was happy to finish 13th junior this season.
