Frostbike XC Series Rd 3, 12 Dec 2021

My second race in the Frostbite series was on our local course at Hinchingbrooke Park, but using more of the park than the park run route, including a muddy hill and more muddy trails (good) but also a section of road (not so good!). After a decent warmup my legs were feeling much better than before the first race, and I managed to make a decent start (probably should have started a bit faster in fact as I got stuck in some traffic), then it was soon on the first time up the climb. A little bit held up but after that the route opened out and it was time to get the head down and work hard on keeping the pace up. After a road section we circled back around into the park for the second time up the hill. It was very narrow at the top so I got held up by some people but after that it was digging in for the last bit and back to the finish. By the end I was tired but happy - not much left for a fast finish like the first race but very pleased to be pretty muddy and feel like I’d done a proper cross country race!
