Central League CX Rds 3 & 5, Oct 2022

This year I decided it was time to affiliate to the Central CX league, with the aim to focus and race more CX this year, having only done a few here and there over the years. For now I have been taking part on my MTB which I have found tricky. I also haven’t been able to do all races I’d planned to at the start, due to illness, Covid and knee pain; luck has not been on my side recently!

The first CX race of 2022 was at Campbell Park where the course really suited me well. This is my favourite CX course of the ones I’ve done over the years and really enjoy racing here every time. For this race I was the only person on a MTB. I had a terrible start but enjoyed the sweeping corners, managing to move up through the group as the race went on to finish 6th Senior.

Next I went to Whipsnade Zoo cross - this race I found harder due to the long grass sections slowing me down but I enjoyed the race and still managed to overtake a few people as I went along to finish 5th Senior and score some British Cycling points which I was surprised about.

Hopefully I’ll be back to racing some more of the CX before the end of the season, on a CX bike this time.
