Kettering CC Hilly 20mile TT, 6 Mar 2022

Feeling excited & nervous all at once for my first TT of the season and riding my new beauty. My bike was racing ready, to feel the tarmac beneath her wheels, was I going to be able to give her the justice she deserves?!

Got there nice and early, drove the course, looked nice and rolling with a tough finish uphill. Started my warm up, my hands went numb, so changed for my extra warm gloves, as I couldn't afford not to keep my mind on the job especially if Raynaud's sets in. Got to the start and the rain was cold, roads were wet, need to remember to stay off the inside where the potholes were.

321 Go... Come on Sophie you have this... Made time I took the rider in front of me... Starting to worry that maybe I should back off its only the start.. Reminding myself that I need to find thd pace the rhythm.

I got to the half way point.. Felt good, the sun even came out, the kites were flying around, almost forgot I was racing.. I got a mile from home and saw my brother and his family cheering me on. I can't tell you how emotional I felt... Shouting yes to myself.. I scrambled up the hill to the finish.. Everything left was gone.. the muscles in my legs went to mush. I cried feeling overwhelmed by it all.. I was buzzing after, all in all a good race, 2nd Female and 11th overall.
