Darley Moor Sprint Duathlon, 18 Sep 2022
The smooth tarmac bike course around a triangular motor circuit and gravel/road run around its perimeter, with excellent organisation and great turn out, once again didn’t disappoint.
This year the race was a qualifier for the 2023 Europeans, and although I narrowly missed a confirmed qualifier slot (being 5th rather than 4th in my age group), I found the opportunity to experience my performance gains through comparison of this and last years timings just as rewarding.
Despite a fierce headwind for part of the course, my performance was improved in all 3 legs (5km run, 18km bike, 2.5km run). I was particularly pleased with my run off the bike which was 1 min 27 seconds faster than last year’s… thanks to building more confidence in my Catenary Coaching brick sessions in training this year.
Watch this space for my final race report of the season after competing at Thruxton Duathlon on 2nd October (Worlds sprint qualifier!)
