Lea Valley CC 25 mile TT, 4 May 2024
I was really excited to do the Lea Valley CC 25 as it was around the E33/25. This is the same course as is used for BUCS 25 which was cancelled a few weeks ago due to wind therefore I was really looking forward to putting an effort out on this course so I could compare to last year.
I went into the race quite fatigued but feeling positive. My warm up was okay but after the race was delayed by an hour due to traffic my pre-race routine had got slightly confused, which led to taking double the amount of caffeine I usually do. That wasn’t the best decision and my legs felt pretty bad off the start line but I kept positive and rode within an effort I knew I could hold.
I caught my minute man quite quickly which was good for morale. The course was pretty tough as it’s quite lumpy but I think I paced it quite well as there was only one second between my two laps. Overall I’m very happy with the result which was over 3 minutes faster than last year and my second 25 mile TT win of the season. I've really been working on staying mentally positive during races, especially when I feel like my body isn’t feeling as good as it could and I think this change in attitude is starting to pay off!
