Central CX League and Interclub Hill Climb, 21/22 Sep 2024
On the 21st and 22nd September I had a double race weekend, starting off with the first round of the Central CX League at Blackpit Brewery Silverstone. This was a race I’d never done before but thought I’d have a go at it this year. After the course sighting laps I was looking forward to the race in the sunshine, it was a course with a lot of technical corners and wooded sections which made it interesting. I got gridded on the front row which doesn’t happen often and had the best start I’ve ever done within a CX race, being 3rd into the first corner. I was pleased with my performance throughout the race and I am feeling confident for future rounds of the series. I finished in 7th in my age category.
The next day in opposite weather conditions I took part in the KCC, RFW, WVCC interclub hill climb. I wasn’t looking forward to this with the weather being horrendous before the start. With a reduced warm up to try stay warm I conquered the hill, I felt terrible while climbing but completed it. This event reminded me how much I hate hills. I placed 22nd overall. Kettering Cycling Club came 2nd place and I came 1st Lady.
