London Winter Run 10K, 23 Feb 2025
When I applied to take part in the Winter Run I felt it would give me a good idea how my fitness was progressing. I wanted to beat my current fastest 10K (55 minutes). It was a busy run with over 20,000 runners so I didn’t think I would be able to achieve it this time.
I started the run and found a pace that I was reasonably comfortable with, pushing it a bit and if I felt tired just reduce it slightly. I found that I was able to maintain the pace without stopping and I felt the training had really paid off. Once I was past the 5K mark I felt strong and confident, pushing to keep my pace steady. Before long I was near the end and beat my own record with a time of 51:52.
I was also really happy that my overall finishing position was 4136, 1101 out of 11347 women, and 59th out of 1265 women over 50yo. My training has given me the confidence and belief that I can do it!
