MTB East Travers XC at Twisted Oaks, 8 Jun 2025

It's the 7th of the 10 events for the MTB East. I was a bit worried the morning of the race with all rain we had but it turned out the track was perfect for MTB. After having a practice a few weeks ago at Twisted Oaks I was really looking forward to riding the course. The track was different to when I rode it a couple of years ago: they had added a couple of steep punchy climbs, a few nice berms and fast single tracks. I loved this kind of course and had some fun.

I started in the Elite women with a couple of new riders. I did my usual and didn't get off well at the start.. I got stuck behind the girls on the1st climb which was pretty steep. I managed to get past a few on the climb and pushed along gravel track at the bottom. The two faster girls had got in front and I lost sight of them. I just thought just keep at it, you never know what can happen. On the 3rd lap I caught sight of the 2nd girl and pushed a bit, I could see she was getting tired. Feeling chuffed with myself I then sat in 2nd place knowing I wouldn't reach the winner as she's showed impressive strength all the way through the season.

I finished 2nd in the Elites and 2nd overall women's. I'm really pleased with my results and enjoyed every minute. Thanks Tim.
