Scottish VTTA 25 miles TT Championship, 19 Jul 2026

We made a fairly early start, on Sunday, to make the journey to Bishopton in Renfrewshire.

We arrived in plenty of time for me to sign on and get my bike set up on the turbo for a decent warm up. It seems, these days, I am not as organised as I used to be. I had forgotten to upload the warm up session to my Garmin and my heart rate monitor battery had run out, so I spent about 10 minutes on the turbo before deciding to ditch it and use the 2 miles to the start to complete my warm up.

When I arrived at the start I was complemented on my skin suit and matching socks. I have to agree the Catenary kit is great! Anyway, back to the race. It was a fast start, roughly a mile descent before turning on to the A8. The course was over two laps which I quite like. It was described as rolling but it was fast. For the most part the surface was smooth and well maintained. The only rough section was a short stretch out to the first turn.

Over the first lap of the course I felt strong and I was hopeful of achieving around 62 minutes. I must have set out a little too fast as by the second lap I could feel my legs starting to complain! I was last female off in a small field so I was able to keep tabs on where everyone else was in relation to me. Despite slowing up on the second lap, I finished in a time of 63 minutes and 14 seconds which put me over 3 minutes clear of the second placed rider. Overall I was delighted with my ride as I posted my best 25 time since 2017. I also achieved a Scottish Veterans women’s age record.

All in all a good day out and special thanks to my husband, Graham, who selflessly supports me in my time trialing.
