National Trophy Series, York, 14 Dec 2019
I raced the York round of the National Trophy series at the weekend. I’ve been ill recently so raced on the basis of just getting round. The course was very slow and muddy requiring bike changes every half a lap to clear the mud from the tyre tread. I also ran with about 20 psi in the tyres in the hope of grip. The start was ridiculously fast and I got up there but my lack of running ability caught up with me and on the longer stretches of shouldering I really suffered. I escaped the 80/20 cutoff rule and I’m regarding that as a success for my first national race as a junior, especially on current form. For next time I need to run even lower pressures and bring some water to the pits!
