Tour of Cambridgeshire Chrono TT, 1st June 2019

After qualifying last year for the Worlds, but then being unable to go, I was hoping to qualify again, but mainly just to put in a good ride and see where it got me. I hadn’t event checked where the Worlds were being held this year. It was a nice warm day as it always seems to be for the Tour of Cambs, which also meant it was by far the warmest TT I have done this year. There was a stiff SW breeze, which meant the course was even harder on the way out, but that suits me it seems. I managed to keep a good average power out to the main climb, and the two drags after that. The only blot on the ride was two course vans who got in my way on the route out, as they were stuck behind another rider. Before I knew it I was on my back along the last few miles of the course, where I just had to try and hang on to my power and ride the tailwind home. I came over the line in 37.56, just 5 seconds slower than last year but with a better average power, so was pretty pleased with that. I also got a top 10 placing (9th out of 68) and qualified again.
