RLSCC/Rugby Velo Club TT, 21 July 2020
For my first TT back after lockdown, I decided to visit the RLSCC/Rugby Velo club TT where coached athletes Frances and Hels are competing. A chance to get a TT in and race with some teamies - what could be better? It turned out to be a lovely evening for a TT, mild with light wind, and the course was fun too with a fast downhill start, along to a roundabout turn and back finishing with a drag back up the beginning of the start hill. After a bit of a mixup with collecting numbers etc, meaning I forgot to put on my overshoes, and a brief warmup, it was time to start (no pusher offers with the Covid regulations). Managed to get some good speed down the hill and held back some power so I could give it everything on the way back up the hill in the last mile or so. It felt really good, and I’d forgotten how much I missed racing! I got back in 21:00, which was a PB for a single carriageway 10, and placed me 3rd (1st vet) in the rankings.
