Bovingdon Bomber Crit, 19 May 2021
On Wednesday I was back racing again at Bovingdon in the women’s cat 2/3 race. I was looking forward to this race as not only was I racing for 45 minutes and competing for BC national ranking points, but myself and a group of my teammates were racing together! We also raced on the new hairpin for the first time so it was a little daunting for the first few laps. After only staying in the lead group for the first 3 laps, I managed to form a very small group with my friend, Ella (and teammate) and another lady called Laura from team Velobants. We were working together to try to catch up with the leading group of 7 riders and also trying to stay away from a fairly large group behind us that were trying to catch us. Fortunately we managed to stay away from this group but we didn’t manage to catch up with the leaders, so we kept working as a 3. With 1 lap to go, the sprint started quite early so I tried to sit on the wheel and overtake with the last 200 metres to go, however this didn’t work out but I was happy to finish 9th overall (meaning a BC national ranking point!) and 2nd Junior.
