Maldon Standard Triathlon, 1 Aug 2021
I had a great time at one of my local triathlons on Sunday. It was a very early start because we swam in the tidal estuary but the weather conditions were perfect, warm and no wind.
I had a good swim, couldn’t quite hang onto the fastest man but I was 2nd out of the water overall. I had a good transition, though my mounts onto my TT bike need a bit of work!
Out on the road I had great fun pushing the pace whilst making sure to leave something in the tank for the run. This was the first race where I actually stuck to my planned bike speed, rather than pushing on, which I was thankful for because I had my best run off the bike of this year.
The 10km flew by though my next target is to negative split the run because I always go off too hard. Having just come back from an injury which took me out of The Gauntlet at Hever Castle it was nice to ease into back into racing. I came away with the win and niggle free, so hopefully I’ll be ready to go in 6 days at St Neots.
