Mallory Park Euro Qualifier, 18 Jul 2021

A scorching hot day at Mallory Park meant I was very glad I was the first wave at 7am.

I took the swim out knowing there was some fast runners in the field, and came out of the swim with a decent lead.

The bike was a technical bike course with lots of hairpins and chicanes. This was my first race with this sort of bike course and I loved it! I managed to hold onto the lead into T2 and then headed out onto the run.

The temperature was already into the mid 20’s before 8am, so was a hot run (not as hot as those going in the later waves!). Two girls overtook me on the run, but I was very happy to take 3rd lady overall a spot for the European champs next year!

I’m now excited to race the same course in a few weeks but in a draft legal format.
