Cambridge CC 15 mile TT, 26 Apr 2025

This was probably the best-executed TT this year so far - not that that’s saying much! After disappointing legs in the 25 mile a couple of weeks ago, I decided to aim for a similar power this time, and hopefully meet it this time. The event was mostly on a dual carriageway course, but changed from previous years due to roadworks which meant more roundabouts. I knew the roads, but had never actually done a 15 mile TT before. It was a nice day with reasonably light wind, which made a nice change from the TTs so far.

The sun came out just as I was waiting to start, which was a nice omen, and the course unfolded as expected in most places. The exception to this was one set of roundabouts where a series of potholes meant that avoiding them left me heading straight for the kerb, so I had to slow down much more than intended. I managed to pace the race pretty well, leaving some extra power for the few uphill draggy sections, and even managed to push harder towards the end, beating my (very conservative) power target and leaving me happier about my performance (but still aware than I am significantly down on power from when I was time trialling before).
